Young community activist Leidy Correa Valle murdered in Antioquia

A young community activist was found murdered on Saturday 8 September, three days after she had been reported missing from her home in the village of Guayabal in Antioquia. Leidy Correa Valle, 25 years old, was secretary of her local Community Action Board and active in youth organising. She had been tortured before being killed.

Colombian NGOs Sumapaz and Nodo called on authorities to identify the perpetrators and guarantee security for activists.

Leidy is at least the 27th social leader murdered in Antioquia in 2018. Around 150 social leaders have been murdered across the country.
