Paramilitaries have made a fresh series of threats against FARC members working to establish the former guerrilla organisation as a political party. The paramilitary group Autodefensas Gaitanistasde Colombia (AGC) sent pamphlets containing death threats to the FARC offices in the city of Cali.

The message on a explicitly warned of attacks on FARC centres in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cacuca and Nariño. ‘We announce more deaths’, said the pamphlet. ‘We are going to murder everybody’.

The threats come as two more FARC guerrillas were murdered on Tuesday 16 January in Antioquia after attending a community meeting to support the FARC’s candidacy in forthcoming elections, the first in which the FARC will particiapte as a political party.

At least 36 FARC members and 13 of their close relatives have been murdered since the peace agreement was signed in November 2016. In most cases nobody has been detained for the crimes.
