On Saturday 10 February in El Bagre, department of Antioquia, paramilitaries murdered Víctor Alfonso Sánchez Manjarrez, a demobilised FARC guerrilla who had been working on implementation of the peace agreement.
Victor is at least the 41st FARC member murdered since the agreement was signed in November 2016. At least 13 close relatives of FARC members have also been murdered.
Aggression towards the FARC is being promoted by prominent right-wing sectors of the political class and media. Violent disturbances at campaign rallies caused the FARC last week to suspend its electoral campaign for the protection of its members and supporters.
