Masked attackers killed indigenous teacher José Domingo Ulcué in the town of Santander de Quilichao, department of Cauca, on Monday 21 October. It was the latest in a spate of murders that has turned Cauca into the most dangerous region in the country for social activists and human rights defenders.
José Domingo Ulcué was a teacher at the Benjamín Dindicué school, where he taught several classes including focus on ethics and values. He was shot as he rode his motorbike in the town.
More than 150 social leaders have been murdered so far in 2018, including several teachers.
