41st FARC member murdered since signing of peace agreement in November 2016

On Wednesday 7 February, the FARC released a statement that one of its members had been murdered, the 41st to be killed since the peace agreement was signed in November 2016.

According to the statement, Kevin Andrés Lugo Morales (alias Julian Morales) was killed at around 11pm on Tuesday 6 February in Montecristo, department of Bolívar. He had been working in community mining projects in the local area.

The statement also said that the National Liberation Army (ELN) was responsible for the killing. Two weeks ago, the ELN killed threee FARC members in the southern department of Nariño.

In addition to the 41 murdered FARC members, at least 13 relatives of demobilised FARC members have also been murdered.
