The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has denounced the murder of 1,500 victims of forced displacement in Colombia and says that not enough is being done to protect those who have been forced from their homes and land or to help them return.
According to Terry Morel, the head of the UNHCR office in Colombia, the assassinations have all occurred between 2007 and 2010 with four victims being killed in the past two weeks alone in the provinces of Choco and Valle. In both cases those murdered were attempting to get their land back.
