Amnesty International has asked its supporters around the world to call on the Colombian authorities to protect Afro-Colombian communities in two provinces of Colombia who have been threatened by rightwing paramilitaries that, say Amnesty, sometimes operate “with the collusion of the security forces”. Two individuals have already been murdered by the paramilitaries and a human rights group working with the affected communities has also been threatened.
