Six Labour MPs who recently returned from a JFC delegation to Colombia have added their names to the call for British Foreign Office Minister Gillian Merron to speak out about the plight of Colombia's political prisoners. Over 60 politicians, trade union leaders, lawyers, academics and Labour Party figures wrote to the Minister about the issue in mid-March though she has not replied to their letter. In a new letter the MPs ask Ms Merron to respond to the first letter and add that they have "now visited prisons ourselves and met with some of the many trade unionists, human rights defenders and other civil society activists being held without trial or even charge".
The original letter can be seen here: MPs, Union Leaders, Lawyers, Call on FCO to Speak Out on Colombia's Political Prisoners.
