Airline Announces Colombia Pull-Out

US-based Continental Airlines has announced that as of September this year they will no longer fly to Colombia. The decision follows the 2005 pull-out by British Airways (who previously operated a London-Bogota route) and the earlier termination of flights from Italy to Colombia by Alitalia. Since those European routes closed, many people wishing to travel to Colombia from Europe had passed through the US though Continental's pull-out has now narrowed the options available.
The airline cited high oil prices as the reason for ending their regular flights from Houston to Colombian's second city Cali.
