European Union drops FARC from terrorist list

Justice For Colombia News | on: Tuesday, 14 November 2017

The European Union has removed the FARC from its list of terrorist groups, where it had been categorised since 2012. The move follows the FARC’s transition to a formal political party, the Alternative Revolutionary Force of the People, under the terms of the 2016 peace agreement. FARC members and representatives will now be able to travel in the EU and expand political activities.

The FARC is still classed as a terrorist organisation by the United States of America, which has not announced plans to review this despite the peace process.
