Army kills one man and injures another in Arauca

The Joel Sierra Human Rights Foundation, a Colombian NGO, has released a statement saying that soldiers killed one man and injured another in Tame, department of Aracua, on 29 October.

According to the organisation, Alejandro Tirado and Lizander Valencia Rodríguez, accompanied by Lizander's eight-year-old son, were stopped by soldiers at 3.20am in the town of Betoyes. For unknown reasons, soldiers opened fire, killing Tirado and wounding Valencia Rodríguez.

The organisation has called on Colombian authorities to open an investigation and hold those responsible to account.
