Justice for Colombia celebrates victims’ agreement and historic advances towards peace

Justice For Colombia News | on: Thursday, 17 December 2015

Justice for Colombia congratulates both the Colombian government and the FARC-EP for the agreement reached in relation to the victims of the Colombian armed conflict. Justice for Colombia has worked for over a decade in support of the rights of Colombia’s victims and whilst we recognise the inevitable difficulties and tensions in any peace deal we are hopeful that if this agreement is fully implemented it will provide a platform for the victims’ rights to truth, justice, full reparation and non-repetition to be fulfilled.

The most basic right of all Colombians is to live in peace and there is no greater guarantee of non-repetition than an end to the more than 50-year civil war and to this end Justice for Colombia congratulates this latest advance. Along with the British and Irish trade union movements and our partners in the British and Irish Parliaments, Justice for Colombia will continue working to support a successful completion of these talks and beyond that to ensure that peace and social justice becomes a reality for all Colombians.
