Between 15th November and 26th November three members of the Patriotic March were killed in the Department of Cauca. All three belonged to the farmers’ rights organisation ATCP which is affiliated to Colombia’s second largest union FENSUAGRO as well as the Patriotic March.

Eduar Montenegro, the son of a recognised peasant leader, was surrounded by four men as he left a party on 15th November 2014 and was shot from close range. He died in hospital.

Two days later, on the 17th November 2014, Leydi Yohana Yatacue, the Young daughter of the president of the local village committee, was found dead on the street. She had been strangled to death.

A week later, the body of the peasant leader, Edgar Fernando Gomez, was found with a bullet having been fired in the side of his head.

In less than three years since its founding more than 60 members of the Patriotic march have been killed.
