In a letter to President Obama, Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO has called on the US government not to "relieve the pressure on Colombia to uphold the commitments it made in the Labor [sic] Action Plan".
The letter underlines that it had had reservations about the Action PLan since it "failed to require a halt to the violent repression of labor" noting that "threats assaults, and murders of labour and other human rights defenders have not abated".
The letter underlines a series of problems with the implementation of the Plan, and gives a series of examples of the Colombian government's failure to implement aspects of the Plan.
