I am writing to ask you to please add your name to EDM 2276 Human Rights in Colombia which has been co sponsored by a cross party group of Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat MPs and calls on the UK government to encourage the parties to the Colombian conflict to engage in a peace process.

As you will be aware the conflict in Colombia has been going on for over 50 years and has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. A peacefully negotiated solution to the conflict is the only way that we will see an end to the killings of civil society activists and to the wider bloodshed. The UK NGO Justice for Colombia is working to raise awareness of this issue.

Colombian civil society is playing a key role in encouraging dialogue to take place, and have asked the international community to show its support for peace with social justice in Colombia.
